Day 1 : Marrakech Airport » High Atlas Mountains » Oukaimden:

You are welcome on the first day of 15 Days Birding Tour In Morocco as we will meet you at your hotel in Marrakech to drive into the High Atlas Mountains to visit Oukaimeden with an altitude of 2600m and we will drive along fields where we will watch some species including Warbler, House Bunting, Southern Grey Shrike, Spotles Startling, Little Owl, Moussiers’s Redstarts, Moroccan Magpie.

we will go a little further up to a rocky area to look out for Levaillant’s Green Woodpecker and Blue Rock Thrush. Then we continue to the ski resort of Oukaimden where we will spot Rock Sparrow, Black Wheatear, African Crimson-Winged Finch, Atlas Horned Lark, Seebohm’s Wheatear, and Alpin Chough.

We will spend the night in Oukaimden after dinner in a local hotel.

Day 2 : High Atlas Mountains » Marrakech » Casablanca » Rabat :

on the second day, we will wake up in the early morning to have breakfast we leave the High Atlas Mountains after making a stop to look for the Levaillant’s Green Woodpecker.

Our road will be via Marrakech’s flat plains and turn into Casablanca in the north-west heading towards Rabat but we will make some stops to search for Calandra Lark and then we will reach Rabat for dinner and spend the night at a local hotel or Riad.

Day 3 :Merdja Zerga :

Today after breakfast and becoming ready for a long day we will drive into Merdja Zerga in Rabat which means “Blue Lagon” There we will spot waders including Redshank, Flamingoes, and lingering Duck.

After this area, we will head into the marsh to watch the African marsh Owl. then we will move to the beach on the Atlantic coast to look out for gulls, terns, or any skuas birds.

Then we will go back for dinner and accommodation in Rabat.

Day 4 :The Zaers » Sidi Bourhaba :

An early wake up in the morning for breakfast and heading towards the southeast of Rabat exactly the King’s hunting forest “the Zears” to watch the Double-Spurred francolin and hear it in addition to some species we may find there are: Black-shouldered kite, Redstart, Greenfinch, Woodpigeon, Stock Dove, Black Crowned Tchagra, Barbary Partridge, Serin, and Pied Flycatcher.

We will stay along the Atlantic coast to visit the freshwater lake and Lac de Sidi Bourhaba, where we will find, White-headed Duck, Red-Knobbed Coots, and Marbled Duck. then we will go back to Rabat for dinner and spend the night at an hotel.

Day 5 : Rabat » Meknes » Cedar Forest in Azrou » Middle Atlas Mountains » Zaida :

On day five after breakfast we will leave Rabat and our destination will be Azrou to spot lesser Kestrel then we will drive into the Middle Atlas Mountains where we can find Ruddy Shelduck and Levaillant’s Woodpecker.

Then our destination will be Cedar Forests considered one of the best areas to spot Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Wood Lark, Barbary Apes, Firecrest and Coal Tit.

We continue to Zaida to spend the night and have dinner at a local hotel or Riad.

Day 6 : Zaida Plain » ZiZ Valley » Merzouga :

Today we will wake up early to do a small tour near Zaida to search for Dupont’s Lark as we will find it between a difficult high plain. As we should also see Short-toed Larks and Thekla. 

Then go back for breakfast and head towards Merzouga Sahara Desert as we may see while we are driving Crowned Wheatears, Eurasian Crag- martin, Black Desert Lark, and White Desert Larks.

In Ziz Valley we may see Blue Rock_thrush and Rock Bunting and then we will reach Merzouga to take a rest and relax with dinner in an excellent hotel in front of the desert.

Day 7 : Merzouga » Erg Chebbi dunes » Rissani :

Today we will wake up in the early morning around 15 minutes before sunrise to do our departure as we will spend the full day only around the Erg-Chebbi dunes where we will explore some of the rarest desert birds.

The birds we will explore Around Erg-Chebbi Merzouga are the Desert sparrow, African Desert Warbler, Tristram’s Warbler, Cream-Colored Courser, Black Wheatear, Desert Wheatear, White-crowned Wheatear, Spotted and Crowned Sound Grouse and we hope to be lucky to find the Egyptian Nightjar.

After spotting these species we will go back to the hotel around 16:00 to take a rest and have some free time to enjoy the beauty of the desert and then dinner and spend the night for the next day.

 

Day 8 : Rissani City near Merzouga

After breakfast in the hotel in front of the sand dunes in a great vibe, we will drive into Rissani which is far from Merzouga 41km where we may spot the following species, House Bunting, Fulvous Babbler, Brown-necked Raven, Southern Grey Shrike, Bar-tailed Lark, and if luck goes with us to see Pharaoh-Eagle Owl.

Then we will go back to the hotel in Merzouga for dinner and spend the night for the next day.

Day 9 : Merzouga » Goulmima » Todra gorge » Tagdilt track » Boumaln dades.

An early wake-up in Merzouga to walk a few meters to the sand dunes near the hotel to take some souvenir photos for your travel, and then we will have breakfast to drive into Goulmima to look out for Spectacled Warbler, Trumpeter Finch, and Scrub Warbler.

After spotting these species in Goulmima our next destination will be Toudra Gourges where we will watch the Rock Dove, Tristram’s Warbler, Beneli’s Eagle, Black Wheatear, Crag Martin, and, Blue Rock thrush.

We will continue to a stony desert called Tagdilt where we will spot a variety of species including Thick-Billed larks, Temmink’s Larks, Thekla, Red-Rumped Wheatears, and Desert Short-Toed. when we spot this species we will drive to Boumaln Dades for dinner and accommodation.

Day 10 : Boumaln Dades » tagdilt track » Ouarzazate

A great start to the day in Boumalne Dades after the breakfast with all the energy. Today we will search first for Maghreb Wheatear and then our destination will be Ouarzazate but we will stop first in the Barrage at El Mansour Eddahabi where we will find Herons and Cormorants in addition to, Ruddy Shelduck, Maghreb Lark, Marbled Duck, and Black Winged Stilts.

then we will continue to Ouarzazate to have dinner and spend the night to be ready reasdy for the next day.

Day 11 : Ouarzazate » Anti Atlas Mountains » Souss valley » Taroudant » Agadir.

After breakfast at the hotel in Ouarzazate, you have to be ready for a long drive through the Anti-Atlas Mountains to reach Souss Valley, Taroudant, and then Agadir. But we should keep our eyes open on the roadside we may spot a variety of larks. 

When we reach Souss Valley we will find Laughing Dove, Spanish Sparrows, Black Crowned Tchagra, and Cirl Bunting. After spotting these species we will drive to Taroudant where we may see Little and Pallid Swifts. and then we will go directly to Agadir for dinner and accommodation.

Day 12 : Agadir » Cap ghir » Tamri Estuary :

Agadir is another different vibe, weather, and species as we will wake up in the morning for breakfast and we will head to the beach called Cap ghir in the north where we will watch Lesser Black-Backed Gulls, yellow-legged gulls, Audouin’s gulls.

we will drive into the Tamri Estuary to see Northern Bald lbis and then we will go back to Agadir for dinner and accommodation.

 

Day 13 : Oued massa » Oued Souss :

After the breakfast at the hotel we will drive to Oued Massa in the south of Agadir at the Atlantic Coast as we will target a lot of species including Moussier’s Redstart, Sardinian Warbler, Dove and Brown-thoated Martin, Black-Crowned Tchagra, Little Owl, Marbled Duck, and Ruddy Shelduck, Laughing Dove.

we will drive to see some Flamingos, Eurasian Curlew, shorebirds, and substantial gatherings of perched gulls and terns in Oued Souss. Then going back to Agadir for Dinner and Accommodation.

Day 14 : Agadir » High Atlas Mountains » Marrakech :

Today we will transfer you from Agadir to Marrakech passing by High Atlas Mountains in addition to making a several stops in the road to enjoy the beauty of these Mountains.

After arriving in Marrakech you will have a free evening to visit Jamaa El Fna, The old Quarter of Marrakech. then we will take you to an hotel/Riad for dinner and accomondation.

Day 15 : Marrakech » airport :

Today if you have the airport in the afternoon we will visit some other birding areas in Marrakech and If it’s not we will transfer you to the airport at the time you would like.
